Compressor 4.2.2 For Mac
We recently updated the computer Compressor lives on to OSX 10.10.5 and Compressor to version 4.2.2. Since the update, the files that are created when we convert, say, an H.264 quicktime to a DNxHD 36 file have increased dramatically in size, on the order of 5x as big as they were prior to the update. Before, a 6.8mb H.264 would end up as 117mb DNxHD 36 file. Now, the same H.264 ends up being 550mb. This occurs regardless of the format of the original file and regardless of whether its becoming a DNxHD 36 or 45 video. I've double checked that the Compressor presets we are using are correct (DNxHD 36 8-bit is selected under the "QuickTime settings" tab). I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Compressor on that machine, as well as installed it on a different computer (with 10.10.5 and Compressor 4.2.2) with the same results. I was hoping someone could give any insight into why this might be happening. Thanks!
I performed all these tests on a late model iMac using Compressor 4.2.2. Every machine will be a little bit different, especially the new Mac Pro, which does not use hardware acceleration for video compression; unlike the iMac.
Hi Larry,Were you able to set a specific bitrate for 4k PR4444 video files? I am trying to export a 4k (38402160) PR4444 video with a bitrate of 1056Mb/s for internal testing purposes, but when I bring the file into both compressor and AME I am not able to adjust the bitrate. I can adjust the bitrate for H264 files but only to a max of 999Mb/s in Compressor and 240Mbg/s in AME. Any help would be great.
Before I give you the results, let me tell you a bit of my renewed experiences with EditReady. First of all: it still is the best looking transcoding app besides Compressor 4.2.2. It looks smashing. The latest version also comes with strong features. It now encodes to DNxHD (Low/Medium/High and 444), ProRes 422 (Lt, Proxy, HQ and common), ProRes 444. It also rewraps with no transcoding being done and you can create your own custom encoder, e.g. to change audio encoding. 2ff7e9595c
